Sony partners with Vivox for advanced in-game voice chat

Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has made an agreement with online voice services provider Vivox to offer high-quality voice chat solutions to players for online gamers.
As well as using standard chat features, players will be able to send and receive voicemails, send broadcast messages, enable 'voice fonts' to alter their voices, and receive external calls in SOE games, all with features hosted on the Vivox Network.
SOE intends to add this voice technology to all of its games, including EverQuest II, and its Station Launcher. This means that even gamers who are not playing an SOE game can make use of the advanced services.
¡°These new voice services not only replace many of the voice chat options currently available but add a broad range of capabilities that streamline communication and empower gamers to maintain their online relationships in both the real and virtual worlds,¡± said SOE President John Smedley.
