Square Enix seems content stringing everyone along about their RPG debuts on PlayStation 3, but at least the latest issue of Famitsu features new information and impressions for both Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

In Final Fantasy XIII, we have already been introduced to the female character Lightning and an unnamed male character wearing a bandana. Now, we're also seeing a new character, a young girl with brown hair. In any case, she belongs to Pulse, the opposite world of Cocoon. Could this be any more vague? Anyway, the Faluci is a supernatural being that has built the world of Cocoon. Luci refers to a human being, who are chosen ones by Faluci and carry a certain destiny or stigma. Why they are chosen is not yet known.

Smmon monsters Efrit, Carbuncle and Siren were also revealed. In the world of FFXIII, summon monsters are creatures that help the cursed Luci. Not only do they play an important role during battle, but apparently impact the story, as well. Although not explicitly confirmed, it seems those who have the power to summon the monsters are Luci, so we can guess that the new young girl and the guy riding the Shiva bike are most likely chosen ones.

As for impressions of the new footage: "The movie and background music is quite different from the previous clips. The music feels epic yet tranquil and even changes our impressions on scenes that we have already seen previously," said a Famitsu editor. "The highlight of the new footage is the summon monsters. Among them, there is a scene where Carbuncle and the new young girl meet in the city area in Cocoon. The clip ends with the phrase, 'The future not only waits.'"

As for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a new heroine was revealed. Outfitted in a black dress and short skirt, she wears a white blouse in the dark city streets, with the full moon in the sky. She wields a rapier and seems to be use special powers similar to the main character. The main character carries three friends alongside him and they travel with the same limousine we have seen in the earlier clips. There's also one scene where a mysterious character in white cloak is fighting against the main character and also seems to possess similar sword powers.

Another Famitsu editor commented on the new footage for Versus: "A fast paced music like a requiem gave us the feeling that this will have a dramatic story. The facial expression and movements of the characters are very realistic and you can feel their emotions directly. It is like watching a motion picture. The mixture of modern and fantasy settings felt natural and gave me a sense of deja vu."

Although there is no specific date given, it has been confirmed that real-time footage of Final Fantasy XIII will be shown sometime this year.
